Day 1: Arrival-Gashora
On arrival at Kigali Airport you will be met by our guide and head into Kigali for breakfast and your safari briefing. Proceed to Nyamirambo Women’s Co-operative and experience urban Rwandan life; a special lunch will be served by the ladies involved with the co-operative. In the afternoon you will drive to Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn the history of Rwanda. After a day filled with emotions and many discoveries, you will head to Bugesera Lodge and enjoy the calm peace of Lake Murayi. Overnight in Bugesera.
Day 2: Gashora-Kayonza
Enjoy a delicious breakfast then hit the road and head toward the Eastern Province of Rwanda. Today’s travel will begin to expose you to rural Rwanda and will include some stops, including a local market. On your arrival to Kayonza you will visit a rural women’s coffee co-operative. After a day filled with new experiences, head to your accommodation overlooking Akagera National Park.
Day 3: Akagera National Park
Today you will enjoy all that Akagera National Park has to offer. Akagera is characterized by woodlands, swamps, low mountains, savanna and a huge variety of wildlife. A full day safari offers ample opportunity to discover the full wonder of the park. After a day of discovery, return to Kigali for a farewell party at a Kigali restaurant. Overnight in Kigali.
Day 4: Kigali-Musanze
Journey to the place of high mountains and hills; Musanze. Stop along the way to see the monkeys at Nyirangarama Center. Your guide will then (by foot or vehicle) escort you up Talia Hill where you’ll discover the true meaning of the ‘Land of Thousand Hills’. Continue to Musanze and enjoy a canoe trip along the gentle river that flows into Musanze. Overnight in Musanze.
Day 5: Musanze-Rubavu
Start the day with breakfast before being transferred to Virunga National Park (Kinigi) where you’ll have a spectacular view of 5 volcanoes while hiking in the foothills. This amazing walk will end at the Rwanda Culture Village, where you’ll meet the local people and learn their stories, Rwandan history, and traditional Rwandan dance. After lunch take a Musanze Market tour then drive to Gisenyi. Overnight in Gisenyi.
Day 6: Rubavu
After breakfast enjoys a morning walk on the Congo Nile Trail. Visit local villages, spend time with Rwandan people, and pick up some Kinyarwanda words! After a couple of hours walking you’ll head back in Rubavu for the Hot Springs and Rubavu City tour. Finish the day with an incredible evening on the lake accompanying the night fishermen. Overnight in Gisenyi.
Day 7: Rubavu-Rusizi
Take the road to Rusizi via Kibuye. A boat tour of some of the different islands will be ready for you on arrival in Kibuye. After your tour on beautiful Lake Kivu, drive to Rusizi with a stop at Nyamasheke market. Overnight in Rusizi.
Day 8: Nyungwe
Enjoy glorious Nyungwe Forest in the morning with your choice of the trek to see the Chimpanzees or Colobus Monkeys or hike to one of the biggest waterfalls in Rwanda. Enjoy the spectacular Canopy Walk in the afternoon. Overnight in Kitabi.
Day 9: Nyungwe-Kigali
You can’t leave Kitabi without visiting the local community to learn how tea is grown and processed. After the tea experience, hit the road to Kigali via Butare and Muhanga, stopping off at Nyaza to visit the Kings Palace Museum on the way. Overnight in Kigali.
Day 10: Kigali-Flight back home
Spend your final day in Rwanda visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial and enjoying a Kigali City Tour (by foot and vehicle). Visit the bustling Kimironko market to pick up some last-minute souvenirs and beautiful igitenge fabric. After dinner, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
